Course Fee: This includes tuition, documentation, morning coffees and a light lunch. Participants are responsible for their own accommodation. Overview of the Course The aim of this half-day course is to train researchers, research managers and research support services in writing professional and competitive proposals for the Horizon 2020. The course describes the relevance of Horizon 2020 to EU policies, the common problems in proposal writing and the success criteria for proposals. The course provides tips on how to collect information, how to select strategic partners and how to avoid duplication in proposal writing. The final section describes a strategy for proposal writing. Designer and Presenter The programme will be presented by Dr. Sean McCarthy of Hyperion Ltd (www.hyperion.ie). Sean has been active in the Framework programmes since 1980. He has been involved in over 150 research proposals to the Framework programmes and has participated in over 60 Framework projects. In 16 of these projects he was the coordinator. Four of Hyperion contracts has been audited by the European Commission. Today he does not participate in the Framework programmes but concentrates on designing and delivering training courses for organizations who participate in the programmes. Since 1998 over 30,000 participants have attended his courses in 27 countries. He has presented training courses on the Framework programmes in over 210 research centres throughout Europe (www.hyperion.ie/clients.htm).
