How to Write a Technology Implementation Plan

Overview of the Course

The aim of this one day course is to train research managers in writing  a Technology Implementation Plan (TIP) for Fifth Framework Programme contracts. In these contracts the Technology Implementation Plan will be a contractual requirement to describe the exploitation plans of the consortium members.

Course Contents

1. Overview of the TIP

This section provides an overview of the TIP documentation and the range of information which is required to complete the document. The most common problems experienced by researchers will also be highlighted.

2. Background to the TIP

This section provides a detailed history of the TIP. It shows the trends in the EU R&D Framework Programmes and describes the role and importance of the TIP

3. Routes for Exploitation of R&D Results

The different routes for exploitation are analysed and sources of information are identified to help the researcher study each route. The different routes include:

4. Writing the TIP

A simple strategy is presented on how to simplify the work involved in writing the TIP. It describes the phases of the work and how it is reported at the contractor and review meetings.

4. Case Studies

Four case studies of TIPs are presented and two are analyzed in detail.

Who Should Attend ?

The course is relevant to individuals who are responsible for the preparation of proposals for the Fifth Framework programme. It is also relevant to research managers and administrators who are responsible for the co-ordination of proposals.
